First Illustration 3 assignment, here what it looks like so far. One illustration has to feature foreground, middle ground and background, while illustrating a Civil War machine (This is the H. L Hunley submarine). The second illustration is showing an interaction with elder and toddler, with a particular culture background to them (I chose the Tlingit dancers). The medium for both illustrations is acrylic paint.
Here I will post my experience at art school and share my artwork I create. I regularly post every Friday and Sunday of the week.

Class courses
So the weather here has been mixed, as it is windy today while to the rest of the week has been humid that usual. Rumor has it that it will still be in the 70-80s degrees. So I'm in this mixed state of wanting to wear fall like clothing and yet I can't because it is too hot to walk around in.I guess I would start off talking about what I think about my classes but I had to drop a class this semester. I'm sure it is typically that college students do this but it was one of those moments where I didn't want to drop because it had all the things I wanted to know. And for some reason, dropping a class is kinda of like turning down a commitment that you would do for those classes. However, a lot of the teachers that I talked said the same thing, "if you are not getting any sleep, then probably something should be dropped". I know that I will get another opportunity to take the course again, so this semester I will have much more focus and time to prefect my illustration skills.
Honestly, these semesters are going to be like Junior year of high school. A lot of expectation is to come out, as it will determine whether you are ready for senior seminar and getting a BFA degree. So I am trying to get a majority of the requirement completed for the Illustration concentration. So for liberals, I have Developmental Psychology and Art of Africa taken at nine a.m, which gives good amounts of time to get up in the morning. Psychology seems like a refresher from my high school psychology class, give with the dependent to our text books. As for Art of Africa, for being a new class, it does do a great job with introducing Africa tribes and their art artifacts that are influence our current day.
Then for studio classes, the new class titled More than Words is a great combination of what I enjoyed in Typography I. Here we are experimenting and finding ways to incorporates type into illustrations. One of first assignments is making a concrete poetry, where we illustrate the word based on its description. There is a little bit more freedom on medium, but that is probably because it is a new class and the teacher sees what works best for students. Then for the six hour classes, I have Advance Figure Drawing and Illustration III. Yes, these both are six hour classes but with different functions. Advance Drawing has the similar teaching tactics from Life Drawing but we are now asked to push it as we start to work with other types of mediums. Also, not only do we have to do a self portrait but also large figure in space as well. Then for Illustration II, it is suppose to be studio working classes and I finally get to have my advisor for a teacher. However the first assignment is to create two illustration, one of a civil war machinate and another is a illustration featuring an elder and toddler. I know a lot of skills and improvements will come out of this class and I hoping it will do a lot more, not sure what though.

Back for the Third year

Hey, I have come back from school and getting back into the studio classes. So far I had a majority of my classes these last few days, and already I have homework to figure.
Mainly homework that keeps me up during the night.
The classes that I have this semester is Advance Life Drawing, Typography II, More than Words, Developmental Psychology, Art of Africa and Illustration III. So far, I been working of typography work, which was hand drawing typefaces to creating a variety of layouts. Also for Advance Figure Drawing is have similar techniques from the life drawing course but experimenting as well as pushing the medium more.
I'll have another post describing what I think of the class but for now here are some pieces I made already in Advance Drawing.
Also I been recently been making cut paper illustrations and cards to this year so I will be posting them this year as well.

Late July Update
I know that I haven't posted a lot on my blog, mainly that I have been busy with my internship and starting up the webcomic. However, I wanted to get something out to remind me that done some work this year. First off these three card are Father's Day cards, all made with paper collage.
Then for my Father's Birthday, I was suggested to create a tropic themed picture done in the illustrated style of Doug Wildey; the cartoonist for the Hanna-Barbera cartoon of Jonny Quest. It was one of Dad's favorite childhood show and one of mines as well.
Lastly, I been getting back into acrylic medium. Now the question is what to paint. Currently I been created an illustration based on the older Godzilla posters (probably because I am still in the child and monster mode). Then I been trying to figure out small paintings of my sketches or something. My goal is to have at least five small paintings.

Hair play illustrations
So I got a chance to get back to gouache, now it finding time for life drawing time. But I really wanted to get back to this medium, especially when Illustration III will probably bring it up as my instructor enjoys the brand.
Anyways the idea about this was back as school, where art students can be expressive and open with themselves if they choose. So it is still disappointing that we still have to deal with people who slur or have time to insult us down the street. It is rude and ignorance for people to hear as it is a part of us that we are expressing. So in these illustration, hair is a personified and personalized by the individual. Some of these characters are based on my friends or people I have seen back in Beverly.

Upcoming Events
Soon far, the weather back home has been sunny and nice. I just hope it was nice in all the other places that my friends were residing this year. I do give them a shout out to stay safe and hope they talk to me soon.
So far this summer, I am doing an internship this summer for my Junior/ Senior year requirement. Currently I am interning at the Stonington COMO Community Center, where I am assisting in their Marketing department. Mainly I have been creating posters, sign, flyers, as well as assisting in preparation for their upcoming fundraisers events. One of them is coming up next week is their Mad Hatter's event to celebrate their 70th Anniversary in a recreation of Wonderland. I do encourage people 21 & up to attend this fundraiser at the Velvet Mill, where they will provide a large amount of served food and beverages as well as interactive activity related to the theme. There is even a silent auction that with have great prizes to chooses from. Again I do encourage people in the area to check it out on the 6th of June and some of my sign work for the event (not including the flyer on the left). Be sure to wear a hat or "Alice in Wonderland" themed accessories.

I haven't come up with an ideas for art posters but I recently did a commission work for the Doug Walker's Art contest. Honestly I was enjoyable to do as I was able to returned to using acrylic and could create a poster inspired from Drew Struzan's artwork. With the combination of Struzan's layout and the technique used when creating the pulp fiction book cover. Also this was also one of the reason why I haven't posted yet on my blog once coming after evaluation.

As well I am help to come home to a great amounts of friends but for now, I have a stable schedule and will be finding time to update for the summer.
Mostly I am happy enough that I have an internship that will help transit into my junior year semester as well as possibly opportunities for the next summer. From find small art related needs to doing house work, I am also making a webcomic with my best friend. Currently we are setting up the website and pages so but you will find more information once the page link is added called "Write Me In". There isn't a regularly up keep yet but will be soon.
I wish I had something better to say but this was just thought up at the top my head. Next time I'll have something more interesting to say or remember. Happy Memorial day on Monday!!

Illustration II Final
So here is my final illustration piece done in acrylic. this was inspired off my first acrylic painting delicate theme monster. Very similar concept but having the girl feeding her monster pet, which is inspired off of a lamprey or some kind of worm creature. I actually planning on continuing the series of girl and monster, perhaps even throwing in some boy and monster as well. Mostly likely they will be a little bit small from these 14" x 22" piece. Here are some ideas I created a while ago that I expand upon.

Life Drawing II Finals
We are so close to the end, with final pieces being critiqued to taking the last final exam the liberal art classes. I'm happy and sad, but I 'm hoping tonight will be a little uplifting since it is a masquerade themed prom dance. Hopefully, there won't have deja vu experience from my senior year masquerade prom.
So now what I have left is my digital illustration finals and Studio XL print cards. I am do with my illustrations but I need paint a few more things to it, so it will be put up soon. But these are the final pieces that I displayed for our Life Drawing II evaluation, two ink wash drawings on poster board and one charcoal drawing on stonehenge. I can say that this semester has been my ink wash pictures, being able to experiment with mark making, value and application of the medium. I also want to thank my cousin for being the model for the two pictures of the figure in space

Wanting Summer badly
Huh, I guess I really been putting this off for a bit. Just saying that I'm not really dead but sucked into my finals work. That will usually what will happen with artist, we don't mean to be anti-social but working on art pieces because people want perfection, or something that they don't want.
Anyways, I didn't stay at school for open house this year because I want to be home to distress myself any more. If I did stay, saturday would be a constant tour group looking through our entire house and I feel I couldn't get anything started or done by. So, I wasn't able to get a lot of open house pictures but I got a couple, both showing the process and the quality amount of work students have been making. Here is the third floor, this is the hallway of 2-D Design work and mix media.
These are some of the Fine art Drawing& Painting and foundation course.
Then there was the large illustration show "To the Nine", featuring Hannah Connolly, Emily Weigert, Anthony Milani, Lisa Martinez, Jennifer East, Elliott Grinnell, Rose Fristrom, Kaleena Deshawn and Kaleena Deshawn and Krista Erickson. I definitely recommend you check out their websites or artwork on your own because there was so much great stuff that I cannot show myself. If you like watercolor, gouache, pen & ink, pastel and mix media, you'll enjoy their unique approach on the medium.
Next is the large Life Drawing and Advance Drawing class room, I was happy that some of my portraits were put up at least.
Also here is the illustration wall for open house, see if you can find my where three of my pieces are.
Then Senior Gallery shows have been coming up and have been a ton of inspiration to check out. I first one that I went (which was probably three weeks ago) was the "After the Fact" gallery: the mixture of animator and graphic designer gallery. The featured animators were Kaitlyn Assmann, Anthony Corrado, Patrick Gerety and Dakota-Lynn Zouzias. Then for Graphic Designers are Sarah Middleton, Alyssa Pettit, Deborah Manchester, Brenda Roswess and Mayuka Fujii. I can say that each one of them had their personal passion incorporated into their concentration and art theme. Go check out their websites to learn more about them.
