What I was actually doing this week

Okay, this weekend I got to part take in an global gamer programing activity well known as 2015's Game Jam. Here, we are given three days to produce a simple playable game to upload and share with everyone. There are not as extreme as Call of Duty or Five Nights at Freddy's but small indie games that display beautiful artwork, encoding this gameplay and the many different approaches on this year's theme "What do we do now".

The game I help made was a point & click puzzle game called "Girl Scouts", where you are the girl scout leader deciding what to do for each situation that you come across. Your objective is to make it through all 16 questions with a majority of your girl scouts, answering them with logical tactics or risking taking choices.

My job was to illustrate all 40 icons that you would choose from for each question. However, our game was completely finished for the Game jam upload due to the time management (just needed three more hour) however we decided that it would be finished otherwise. So once it is, I will make a link or have it accessed through my blog for you to try it out.

At first, I didn't mean to get into the game jam but once I went to the artist talk and their presentation, I found a good group that was doing the types of game I enjoy, which is basic puzzle point and click. I really did enjoy it, making it the first time to part take in creating an indie game, and while doing it, I was really liking it. The art design behind it is something I would be great out, even when picking up the small items or icons that are displayed on screen. This was a great challenged, and you could say that this can be added to my portfolio. I encourage anyone that have a small interesting in game making, this is a great event to take part of with this limited time next year. Be sure to check out their website and you might be able to see all the games that people have made this weekend.

Just one of those weeks

So after Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years of 2014-2015, it has finally decided to snowed here, at my dorm, on Saturday January 24th, 2015, where the snow finally leaves more than an inch and ice on the ground. Also there has been rumor weather about Tuesday and Wednesday having a blizzard strike us again. So far my house I very toasty and we have people shoving our back door steps to exit from. I am able to work comfortably in my cozy work area, I actually have been working over at main building in the animator studio (more about story in the next post).

Pretty much I have been finishing my three illustrations, an exercise of demonstrated different time periods and mark making in pen & ink. If you notice the night features large black solid shape that contrasts the lighten scenes. Then the daytime scene is only used up of lines and mark making textures so you can render the objects and landscapes more vivid like than simplifying it with the night. There is also a dust & dawn scene where we use ink wash (which is pretty much my first time using this technique)

Then for Life Drawing 2, these are the drawings I made so far. Again I am a little rusty but I am liking that the style with drawing in charcoal and traditional method is progressing from last year. This time I am making it a regularly thing to draw from bottom to top and not being afraid to discard particular parts or start over when having limited time. In the future, you'll probably see a lot of familiar things like what the figure model will be holding to standard central still lives.
